What type of Cheese are you?

March 22, 2008 at 10:49 am (Silverthorn)

One of the many wonders of facebook is the countless quizzes you can take.  Most of them bore me but this one was different…

Apparently I am:

Cheddar

You’re mild-mannered and sharp. People find you to be easy to get along with and tend to enjoy being around you. You’re basically the best of everything!

Was slightly disappointed as cheddar seems a bit dull to me, but Robb is also cheddar so maybe it’s not so bad.  You can take the quiz here

Next Step – World Domination

March 5, 2008 at 2:32 pm (Silverthorn)

Dr Ruth has enabled me to post on this blog!  Woohoo!!

So here’s the plan:

Step one – Get a gig

Step two –

Step Three – World Domination.

I guess the next stage in the world domination process is sorting out a logo.  All suggestions on a postcard to the usual address…

Band Meeting, local pub, 3/4/08

March 5, 2008 at 2:32 pm (Silverthorn)

Quote of the night:

Adam (discussing a previous band): “Our bassist’s family were devil worshippers – but not in a bad way”                                                                       The rest of us: –helpless laughter-                                                                     Adam: “No, really – they weren’t into evil… they just worshipped the devil.”

Haven’t laughed so much in ages!

Apparently there was some song or something about weeping incantations which Robb thought would score well in scrabble.  I commented that my best score ever in scrabble was from the word ‘leprosy’ – it was onto the triple word score and had formed another word too – or as Adam put it – “leprosy – with things coming off it”.

Talked about ‘banter’ on the stage and how it might be important to explain why we’re going what we’re doing.  It’s a bit like a pot noodle – stuff you love but don’t like to admit to…

Robb has some strange acquaintances.  Apparently one of his colleagues today complained about his sweet chilli flavoured crisps, stating it was ‘nasal rape’.  How very peculiar.

Back to the music, anyway.  Have started learning ‘rockstar’ by Nickelback but we all keep forgetting the stops and starts.  Someone said that at the next rehearsal we should be ‘nailing rockstar’ – I misheard and asked which particular rockstar he would be ‘nailing’, to which Adam replied Leta Ford, who I have never heard of so it was neither illuminating nor funny.

Anyway, have agreed a set list – finally did this by tearing up a list of the songs and placing them on the table in different orders til we got one we all agreed on.  The landlady got so confused she came over to ask what on earth we were doing.  Anyway, set list is here. Also agreed next three songs to learn:

  1. live and let die
  2. alone
  3. living on a prayer

Hopefully should be gigging soon, probably at the Primrose on Meanwood Road.
