A Farewell To Evanescence
Should we let it fall?
Lose this song?
So maybe we can play something they want.
Can’t keep on playing
A song they’re naysaying
A song
Even emos don’t like
It’s just too sad…
Don’t cry for it,
If they loved it,
They would be cheering it.
We like it,
But it don’t fit.
It’s not our style…
Well it came and went,
An experiment.
It was exhausting to learn all the words.
This song won’t settle,
We won’t play nü metal.
We won’t detune our guitar strings,
It’s just too sad…
Don’t cry for it,
If they loved it,
They would be cheering it.
We like it,
But it don’t fit.
It’s not our style…
You never cheered for Evanescence
You only want to hear hair metal, hair metal…
How could I spend so long learning this song?
How could I? It never fit.
So don’t cry for it
If you loved it
You would have cheered when we played it.
You want it? Buy their album.
We’ve made up our mind.
Band Meeting, 2nd July 2008: Minutes
We’ve recently got all official (well I have anyway) - following the last gig where we got paid the awesome fee of £15 (the other bands also got paid despite the fact that only we brought any fans along), we decided we needed a treasurer to look after the cash. Decided that Mike was probably the most responsible and trustworthy of the lot of us so he’s been lumbered with the task of looking after this vast wad of cash. As I’ve been doing the blog and keeping notes, I guess that makes me the secretary… So I typed up the things we agreed because otherwise you know what will happen - “I never agreed to that” or “that’s not what I said”. So thought you might like to see some extracts from the latest minutes…
Apologies
· Ruth apologised for losing her voice half way through “I love Rock and Roll” at the last gig at the Primrose.
· Adam apologised for not breaking a drumstick during the last gig and described this as being ‘wet’
· Robb apologised for getting his first solo right which made him overly complacent for the rest of the gig
· Mike apologised for playing the whole of “I love Rock and Roll” in the wrong key…
Issues discussed
… 4. Clothing. Need to be a bit more colourful and 80s. Mike to get an appropriate shirt and rip his jeans in a more convincing manner. Robb to get cowboy boots and hat. Ruth to look into 80’s rock women e.g. Lita Ford and see what they’re wearing for inspiration. Adam considering spandex.
5. Transport. Disappointingly, Mike has refused to buy a Tour Bus or Van. Will have to take price of hiring a van into account when charging for gigs.
6. General Nonsense. Adam is going to be in trouble with Val …
Anyway, have kept my end of the bargain and looked into what 80’s rock chicks were wearing. Mostly bustiers and boobs from what I can see. Looks like I’m investing in some push up bras…

Pic from the Roscoe Gig
Here’s another pic from the New Roscoe last night.

Last nights gig was a bit like trying to organise a flash mob. We found out we were playing The New Roscoe at about 3PM and went on stage at 10PM with furious texting and emailing in between. Thanks to everyone who showed up with such short notice (particularly the rest of the band
).
Many thanks to Lloyd for letting us use the images.

Keep on Rockin’ in the Free World!!
Those of you who missed it…. maybe next time!

Rehearsal, 16th June 2008: The One Where Ruth Was Right
Those of you who know me well will know that I’m a very humble person who is never argumentative or opinionated. That is why it is not important at all that I WAS RIGHT about the bit after the solo in “Crazy Crazy Nights”. Why the rest of the band felt so sure that Kiss would have a half bar in a song is beyond me. Even after listening to it on the CD and proving I was right, they still all played it wrong and tried to claim it was me that got it wrong. So we listened to it again and guess what… I WAS RIGHT! And finally the guys got it right too. Eventually.
